10 Great Books On Irobot Vacuum The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner    Robot vacuums remove pet hair, lint and dust from the floor before they settle. They can also avoid obstacles like furniture that is slippery and staircases.    The majority of robotic vacuums require maintenance, like emptying (and occasionally, rinsing) the bin, and wiping cameras and sensors. They also require to be plugged in. Many come with smartphone apps for scheduling, adjusting settings and more.    Roomba 980 from iRobot    The iRobot Roomba 980, the latest in a series of top-of-the-line robot vacuum s, is a must for any modern home. This model comes with a HEPA-filter to help those who are allergic. It also has a powerful battery which can clean for two hours before returning to its dock automatically when the bin is full.    Smart mapping is another feature that allows it to identify areas in your home that require attention and creates a cleaning path to get around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a good job of moving around toys abandoned on the floor or furniture legs that are sticking out from under the furniture. It also has a camera sensor that will snap the Roomba back to reality when it begins to drift away from its original location.      iRobot also added an additional set of rollers beneath the Roomba that do not have bristles and therefore are more likely to avoid the tangles that previous models. The rollers are also larger and can fit under beds or couches with low sides. They're designed to make the model more maneuverable on different kinds of floors.    The Roomba 980 differs from other high-end models by its new dirt detection feature that makes use of cameras to identify dirt that has been embedded. This is a significant improvement over the previous version, which relied on a sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage technique to bounce around a room and clean it at least three times from different angles.    The Roomba 980 performed well in our tests on carpets and hard floors. Its score on the low pile carpet was excellent and it got a very excellent score on mid pile, too. It did a decent job of picking up pet hair, but it had a difficult time with very long and thick pet fur that was clumped together.    The Roomba 980 is still one of the most efficient robots in our list despite the slight limitations. It's also not as expensive as other top-of-the-line models. It still has a lot of features that we'd expect to find in a flagship model, but it doesn't have all the fancy app-enabled functions or smart home integration you'll find in other top contenders.    The iRobot Roomba is simple to set up and start running right away. After removing the pull tab for the battery and the yellow bin insert from its undercarriage, all you need to do is plug it into its Home Base docking station or a wall socket, press its big "Clean" button and let it go to work. It will return to the dock when it has run out of batteries or is full of trash. There are also indicator lights on top that show the bin is empty, when it requires recharging, or when it loses its Wi-Fi.
